Comment on: Oklahoma Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

By EmmaLouise86 - on Jan 26, 2012
Posted in RDON

I agree so much with you. I'm a genuine girl and I get minimal help from the government yet a person with 2-3 kids or more get it all without having to work a day in their lives.
I struggle to find work and don't get much help through my local jobcentre either. I'm nearly homeless with not a penny to live off. but they don't care I just get accomodated in hostels where I am under threat from drug ridden men and don't feel safe to go asleep at night. I'm trying to plead somebody to help me get a fresh start I think you have more success here in finding supportive & willing people then turning to your local authorities.

I am 63, retired, make $247 per month Social Security and I could not get help from this program this year. I have no idea how they chose who was eligible this year but I think the system stinks. There are people out there who get the help and just because they have a couple of kids they can get it. Many of them are probably illegal aliens. So all I can use this year is a small electric heater and am now in danger of getting the electric shut off. America need to change.

Things needed after fire and theft

By Alicat1228 - on Jan 22, 2012
Posted in Alicat1228

Just an update. We have received clothes after our house fire. We are still in need of everything else. These things would include beds, any furniture like tables, dressers, desks etc. Dishes or pots and pans or anything for a kitchen. Also couches or anything else for that matter. Anything is appreciated and needed.

in response to ...   You have a child to care for so go to the nearest welfare office and apply for Hoosier Health Wise to cover dental and doctor or hospital visits. Have her birth certificate, social security card, and proof of income or a statement from the Social Security office stating little or no income, and proof of address with a bill of some sort.Search the web for sites for veterans to help with financial aid from the government if you can. There may be grants to help you out with your bills and health.

Please Help

By StupidRn - on Jan 15, 2012
Posted in StupidRn

Hello,
Yes I was a registered nurse. I made a couple stupid mistakes about a year ago. It all started when the Board of Nursing was considering revoking my nursing license for a $25 bounced check 18 years ago, long before I was even a nurse. Yes, twenty-five dollars. The legal fees for to take care of that $25 check were $1500. I thought I could that mistake from my wife, so I stole some hospital equipment and sold it, but I was caught.
Fines and restitution are now about $80,000. I am asking for grants and/or loans to help pay for this.
I have not worked as a nurse in over a year. I have an attorney in hopes of keeping my license, but I don't know.
I am currently working as a recruiter/search consultant, but our owner takes 70% of placements.
I have never done drugs in my life, this is not a scam. I can provide documentation or give you my attorney's where money can be given directly.
The only things I ever wanted out of life were to be able to work hard, be a good husband and a dad.
I have let myself and my family down.
Please help

in response to PJsMom...   I agree with you 100%. Things will get better, as long as we all think positive. we don't need a man to take care of us. We are our kids mom and unless the man wants to be there on his own free will, we don't need pitty, if they want to help great but dont go looking for one to take care of u. Would it be nice to have someone to help you of course but look for love and partnership not just for money

in response to ...   Hi, I live in San Diego, CA and I am so pleased to see so many people reaching out for dental help. I agree with all of you. We pride ourselves in being the richest country in the world, yet we cannot help our own people. It's a shame. It's a pitiful shame. And, then society wonders why people are sick a lot of the sickness has to do with poor, poor dental care. I hope someone reaches out to us and gives us the help that we need. It's the same in California - NO REAL HELP for those who CANNOT AFFORD DENTAL SERVICES!

Stay strong Mark, and never give up on your dreams. I am a starting artist and poet, I just found this site and my heart is aching for all the good people on here who are struggling to survive during these harsh times. The sign of the times make it appear that things will get more difficult, but with faith in the LORD I believe you can make it. I visited your site and the photos look breathtaking. I'll send a prayer out for you, and while we are all struggling, with faith we will still stand strong. God Bless and good luck!

Hi Derek. Sorry to bother you, I see this was posted about a year and a half ago. I was wondering if you would tell me if posting this, actually did help your mom. I'm finding myself in a similar situation, about to be evicted, with nowhere to turn. Not a dime in my pocket. I don't have any family to ask for help. No "wonderful" son, like yourself, willing to take the steps you took to help your mom. Can you tell me how to go about making a posting such as yours, asking for help from the public. I don't know my way around a computer to well. I'm 56, and about to be put out in the street. I'm scared. I hope this finds its way to you, and that you have the compassion to respond. I also hope that you were able to find the help for your mother back when you needed it. Yours sincerely, CC.

Which doesn't make sense to me. I even had a woman name mimi21 here send me a message telling me to get a man. I need help not more problems lol

Well I sent the email, no response as of yet. I am not holding my breath on getting a response from them. They sit in their huge mansions, wearing clothes that could pay my gas bill, and honestly you know that is all they care about. If they really cared about "the people" we all would not be in the positions we are in now! I would STILL have my good job and be sitting comfortably!

Should I contact my Senator?

By PJsMom - on Dec 26, 2011
Posted in Discussing "Assistance - Utilities"

Good afternoon everyone. I was thinking last night, I am late on my water/gas bill, if they turn it off I will lose my government houseing. I thought last night, maybe I should send a letter to my Senator, because I did ask the company if there was any kind of assistance and they said no. 849 bucks doesn't help me much paying 300 rent, electric, water, gas, truck payment, gas and of course as with many I am in deep with TWO check advance places. I think I have paid things late, put off bills and finagled so much until I have reached the point of no return! Usually I am pretty good at finding SOME way to come up with money to get things paid, but I think I have just about sold everything I own that was worth anything and borrowed from all resources. Like I have said before, my eyes have been blown open on how different both sides of the fence are. Two years ago I had no problem paying my bills on time or when I felt like shopping hoping in my nice car and heading out to the mall for a new purse or shoes. I would get my hair done once a month, and my nails......never gave a thought about those who were in bad need. Now, I am one of those in bad need. I feel if I can JUST make ends meet until Feburary it should get better. This will be my last semester of college and I will walk with my Programming degree and January first I get to start working with the networking department at my college, I'll get a few hours a week and get a check every two weeks. That will make a TON of difference, I'm just scared of how I am going to pay all my bills before then.
So anyway, sorry I got off on a ramble, what do you think about me writing my Senator? Will it be a waste of time?
Thanks,
Jennifer

A Prayer and a Miracle

Posted in Holiday Assistance

With so many others needing help, I feel unworthy of asking, but the welfare of my family prompts me to try. I am in need of help with our electric bill I had surgery on my foot two weeks ago for an on the job injury. While I am receiving workers comp, it is not enough to cover everything. I am the sole supporter of my husband and my 90 year old mother who lives with us. My mother fell 3 weeks ago and has a wedge fracture of her L3 vertebrae. My husband is caring for both of us and he is just recovering from cancer. I make too much to qualify for public assistance and it is only for another month ot two. Our electricity will be shut off unless I can come up with $240 by the 28th. It is our only source of heat. Does anyone know where I can get help? Thank uou and Merru Christmas.

in response to CHRISTISLIFE...   Thank you so much for your prayers, thoughts and kind words. It truly helps to know that there are people out there that DO care! I will keep your family in my prayers as well. I am sure that Christmas will be fine, in spite of the gift situation. Like my kids said, Christmas should be about our love for each other and Jesus, not the presents. Such wise lil' souls! I am sure that it will be worse on me and my husband than on them. We just feel so guilty helpless and hopeless.

Things just seem to be going from bad to worse. We just got notice that we are being foreclosed on, my husbands wages are being garnished for my medical bills, my disabiliy claim has been denied, we are unable to receive any type of government assistance because my husband insists on working, case worker actually told me to tell him to quit and they could help, HA! Isn't that crazy? Our system at work, help those who won't help themselves, but screw the honest hard working citizen that can't make ends meet.

Okay, I'm done ranting. Thanks again for the note and God Bless, you and yours!

We need a Christmas miracle! Two days before Christmas and we have no presents for our children. We have a 10 yr old son and an 8 yr old daughter. We have focused so hard on keeping our home from going into foreclosure, that we haven't been able to buy a single gift. And all for nothing because we were served with forclosure papers this week afterall. I've explained the situation to the children and they both say they understand and everything will be okay. They are such good kids, they deserve at least a little something for Christmas. If you are able to help I would be so thankful to you for brightening my babies holiday. Please contact me at cblack28@insightbb.com I am at my neighbors using Internet so will check messages often. God, please hear my prayers for a nice Christmas for my kids. In Jesus name I pray Amen. God bless you all!

Holidays are here, without my mom just hasn't been the same! I don't even have a tree this year. That thought alone breaks my heart for my daughter. ( my son is to young to know any different). There is 1/3 gallon of milk in fridge, half a stick of butter, I have some chocolate malt meal in cabinet along with 1/4 of a box of potatoe flakes. I don't know how I'll make thru school break nothing to feed my oldest. Thank God for Wic my son has formula and diapers from a true friend! No carseat to go visit 80 year old great grandma( she is all we have left). No running vehicle. I'm sad at the most precious time new mom and saddened that they are stuck in this situation. I gave all my clothes to my daughter when I got pregnant, so all I have is one pair sleep pants one pair maternity pants and some rags for t shirts. I don't want anything for myself but I pray an angel touches our family even in the smallest way, to make this a happy holiday

I am a licensed New York State Real Estate Salesperson since 1985

I am having a hard time makings ends meet. I am a very reliable and honest person. I am just looking to meet someone who will trust me in doing business with them. I have a lot of experience in investment properties which are located in the New York City Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx and beyond , New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas. I can work, I am dedicating my full time for the last several years but what I am encountering is the lack of funding for these distressed or cash flow properties. All I am looking for is someone who will trust me or have the funds available in their own account and I will be able to find investment properties along with them and share the profits. I love people and most of all I love God. If you give me a chance I will prove to be a great asset for you! Just give me a chance.
All the best for a Merry Christmas and a very prosperous New Year 2012!
